🚨 Iran–US Talks in Doubt: Here’s What Iranian Officials Are Saying
There is still confusion about the next round of talks between Iran and the United States, which were expected to take place in Islamabad.
So far, Iranian officials have been speaking with different voices, showing mixed signals about whether the talks will actually continue.
Most Iranian leaders have expressed strong doubt about the US, especially over trust and diplomacy. This is not new, as tensions between both countries have been ongoing for years.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, recently told his Pakistani counterpart that the US actions, statements, and what he called “excessive demands” show that Washington is not fully serious about diplomacy.
However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson later added that the country currently has “no plans for the next round” of talks, creating more confusion about the real position of the government.
Interestingly, after former US President Donald Trump announced that another round of talks would happen, Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf—who led the previous delegation in Islamabad—has not yet confirmed whether the talks will continue or not.
On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that diplomacy should be used to reduce tension between both countries. But there are questions about how much influence he really has in deciding foreign policy.
Inside Iran’s political system, there are also strong voices, especially from hardline religious leaders, who are against any talks with the US. It is still unclear whether these opposing voices will be able to stop the negotiations completely or not.
For now, the situation remains uncertain, with no clear confirmation from Iran on the next step.ᖪ😱
